I almost forgot...
Clearly I don't ski very often to be able to tell the difference, but I saw students cross country skiing around a track beside their school today. That actually makes much more sense - with no school bus and I haven't seen any hills I couldn't figure out how the students would get to downhill ski :-)

If I were younger, I would use cross country skis for downhill!
